Strengthen & Protect Your Cornea
Halt the progression of Keratoconus with advanced C3R treatment. Expert care designed to preserve your vision.
Understanding Keratoconus and C3R
Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition where the normally round, dome-shaped cornea thins and bulges outward into a cone shape. This irregular shape prevents light from focusing correctly on the retina, causing highly distorted and blurred vision that often cannot be fully corrected with standard glasses.
If left untreated, Keratoconus can worsen over time. To stop this progression, we offer Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking (C3R or CXL). It is currently the most effective, globally recognized treatment designed specifically to strengthen the weakened corneal tissue and halt further bulging.
How C3R Works
The C3R procedure is minimally invasive and performed right in our clinic. It works by creating new structural bonds within the cornea:
- Gentle Preparation: Numbing drops are applied so you feel no pain. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) drops are then carefully administered to the cornea.
- UV Light Activation: A highly specialized UV-A light is used to activate the Riboflavin. This triggers a reaction that significantly strengthens the collagen fibers within your cornea.
- The Goal: While C3R is not designed to reverse existing vision loss, its primary and crucial goal is to completely stop the disease from progressing, potentially saving you from needing a corneal transplant in the future.
